Daughters biological dad-is this weird to you?

very long story short, she is 15 and we separated when she was 3. Contact was very much dependant on his ever changing love life over the years and she has pretty much accepted he is an arsehole! I have 100% supported her in any decisions regarding her wanting to see him, not wanting to etc.
He has seen her once this year when he took for a hot chocolate for her birthday.
He then texted her in May to let her know he is writing a will and she will be included in it (super dad medal in the post for that one!).
She has had no contact until last Tuesday when he simply sent this 'X', I would usually think he sent it by mistake but it's not the first time he has done this, he sent the same thing a couple of times last year. She thinks it's weird and I actually do too..if he wants to let her know he is thinking of her then say so!!or call her?? Or is he wanting her to text back saying 'was that meant for me?' To start a conversation going!
What's really odd is he always sends them around 10 in the morning when she would be in school anyway!Confused

kind of a bit inappropriate tbh as was the text in May. A bit creepy really.

ImperialBlether · 13/09/2015 12:58

They might not actually be meant for her. Is he generally weird?

Rainbowlou1 · 13/09/2015 13:09

He can be a bit odd yes...I think 1 'X' could be a mistake but 2/3 is weird!
I remember he got engaged to a polish girl and he used to 'accidentally' send me messages in polish, obviously to get me to reply or make me feel jealous?? The. When I ignored them he would text oh sorry they weren't meant for you! Saddo!Smile

that is strange - but u know sometimes I get messages from a friend who actually intended them for his daughter because he has big thick farmers hands and we are adjacent on his call list.....
Could that be it? is she Danuta and you Daniela?

LobsterQuadrille · 13/09/2015 13:17

It sounds as if he craves a response/attention - so the best way of ensuring that your DD is not used in this way is for her to ignore. If he sends a "normal" text then fine, but these are .... attention seeking (including the "you are included in my Will" text). I had an ex whose ex-wife would occasionally call him at strange times without leaving a message. He would call back and she would say "sorry, I called you by mistake". I imagine it was a way of ensuring that he she was in his thoughts.
Unless it really becomes a problem, it sounds harmless enough and he is probably lonely (which is his problem).

Yellowpansies · 13/09/2015 13:18

I'd assume he maybe means that he's thinking of her, but is too clueless/lazy to try to do anything more about it.

Rainbowlou1 · 13/09/2015 13:25

He actually is very needy and very attention seeking-it is all about him and he finds it hard to juggle his wife and 2 kids with his daughter I think (bless himWink) I do think he would do something like that so that she then contacts him...he can then convince himself she contacted him therefore she must really want to speak to him!
I've told her to ignore those ones..she said don't worry I will!
As for texting with fat fingers it's possible but if he was meaning them for his wife their initials are poles apart!
