Why would a solvent, single man in his 50s with no ties repeatedly get involved with married women?

I need to be careful here but I could do with some input on this to help me get my head around a situation (that I am no longer in) but still trying to work out.
The man in question has been involved with 4 women in a row all of whom have been married.
I know the obvious- relationship without the hassle. Anything else? Its just strikes me as odd.
Im trying to understand why but maybe there isn't a reason. I have asked although I am no longer in contact with him at all but he says it 'just happens'

I think also the thrill of luring someone away from their partner. Ego kibbles.

Twinklestein · 07/09/2015 13:21

In his head he's probably thinking he's Casanova.

He may enjoy getting one over on other men by cuckolding them and it would be interesting to know whether his df or other close male relative was cuckolded.

He's one of life's moral inadequates who's also something of a social liability if he makes a play for any woman with a wedding ring on her finger but, unlike their female counterparts, such men are rarely subjected to censure and are often lauded for their sexploits.

Thanks for your responses. He doesn't tell male friends at all but he tells other female friends.

Turn the question around, why would a married woman get involved with him?

He's single. He does not have anything to lose.

Not so much advertising .... but promoting himself on a facebook group. Or he was until he got himself banned.

Alternative explanation: he's lying, in order to present himself as an exciting, amoral figure on the internet, in order to get a date.

Sodder · 07/09/2015 14:31

Insecurity - he does it to prove he can. The married part is a bit more complex - perhaps he wants a wife of his own deep down and is jealous of those men who are married.

His parents' marriage might offer clues.

AnyFucker · 07/09/2015 14:46

he still needs the married women to play with, yes ?

more fool them I say

the difference is they risk losing their whole world...he just gets another notch on the bedpost

you makes your choices

He tells females friends but doesn't tell his male mates? He's a fantasist who's lying about his love life in the hope it will get women thinking he's got something other men haven't, or that they'll attempt to save him from married female predators.

If you should see him again, or run into any of his pals and his name comes up in conversation, make it clear that any adulterous liaison he enters into doesn't count unless he's got the divorce petition showing his name as co-respondent to prove it Smile
