After ending an ea relationship, I have 4 weeks holiday to take off work between now and November, but no plans. Any ideas? :)

i have thought about 2 nights away on my own abroad, but would be too scared i think!

Google search 'singles holidays' and you'll be spoilt for choice. There are so many destinations and so many activities to pursue if you are so inclined.

Don't be scared of holidaying alone as it's the ideal way to get to know yourself and meet other solo travellers who tend to be more adventurous than their stay-at-home cousins.

Whatever you choose, I'm sure you'll have a whale of a time - a friend of mine went on a singles holiday and the former strangers she met up with had such a good time they stayed an extra night at an airport hotel when they got back to the UK.

I'm doing a week long upholstery course. I also thought about cookery, probably overseas.

It's getting towards the end of the season but I can promise you you will feel a million dollars after 2 weeks here (I've been 3 times but not c==since having DC sadly);

Can you do a mix of whole weeks off and frequent long weekends? So you both get some full immersive relax/refresh but also top it up a bit between times? So something like a week off in each of Sept/Oct/Nov plus also a long weekend in each of those months too (or a fortnight off, a week off and 2 or 3 long weekends).

Then I would do a real mix of things with different times off. Some options would be:
Beach holiday
Yoga holiday
Find a film or jazz festival somewhere and head for a weekend away
Some time at home with a mobile massage therapist booked to come everyday
Time at a spa hotel
Weekend trip to visit an old friend/close relative
Find a proper beauty parlour and spend a whole day tehre e.g. massage, nails, facial, makeup, hair done.
Take a meditation class
Go on a retreat
Girl's weekend with few friends
Painting or cookery course

Samye Ling buddhist centre takes paying guests if you just want to really get away from everything for a few mights.

Mix of things to learn, relaxation, connecting with yourself, connecting with people you love and also having fun.

Can you take it in one block, id go back packing, done Europe and Asia alone, and always meet others. Australia would just be innspring summer which is lovely and a month there is perfect for seeing lots of areas. Are you happy driving abroad?

If you want to stay in the UK, how about glass blowing?

Personally, i would go to Italy - the trains are good for getting about.

YY I'd go to Italy too. I'd start in Venice because I love it and haven't been since we had DS . It's not the best time of year for Venice weather-wise but it does mean there are less crowds.

There are some writing retreats in the UK that could be nice.

There is also a B&B on Arran that has holistic treatments, etc, which I've always meant to stay at.

I went on a glass blowing course once - it was a lot of fun (never done it before or since), I wouldn't have said I was a natural (my glass baubles are heavy enough to be a lethal weapon)

How about some kind of skills based thing - where you get to bring some awful souvenir home that you made yourself, and that makes you smile whenever you see it (or have to explain what that is sitting on your shelf to others) - pottery, weaving,

If you want to kickstart your fitness you could do a week bootcamp, they do residential ones in Hastings, a week by the sea and days spent in the gym. Ignore me if you don't need to lose weight!

My friend went on a singles holiday to a Greek island and made friends for life. The season is coming to an end but I really recommend the concept!
