Do you need to have something there to build on? Apart from kids? Not sure if I can be bothered to try anymore.

Really feeling for you... I hate it when they pull that mental health line... as if all the problems stem from you.
Think its a really good idea to go away for a bit... but please don't leave your family home permanentlt - friends advise it becomes a real issue in divorce settlements. Anyway it shouldn't be you who leaves- if you are looking after the kids... (but I know where you are coming from in that he is being a total G*T)
I'm sure there are better qualified people than me to help... but get some advice (Citizens advice etc) before doing anything too hasty.
