i said goodbye to my nana today

she was admitted to hospital with a chest infection it turned into pneumonia the hospital tried their best but it would not respond to drip antibiotics and now they have sedated her. i have cried till theres nothing left in me she was an amazing woman who pretty much brought me up as my own parents were pretty useless she is 97 im so grateful i had her for so long but i wanted longer now i sit and wait for a phone call i dont know why im posting i think i just didnt want to sit here and wait alone i guess

thank you i owe everything to her i told her today she made me who i am and i love her so much she is such is strong stubborn fiesty and funny taught me so much.

its going to be so hard in work tomorrow i do not know how i am going to cope

Have you got any other family to lean on?

I suppose you just get up and take one hour at a time. Can you book the day off?

i have dp he has been a total saint today rushed me to the hospital i was in bits no way i could drive she is miles away from here too but he has a 5.30 am start tomorrow i really cant lean on him any more today as for work its a new job dont really want to push my luck

You poor thing. My Nana died ten years ago but it feels like last week. She was only 72

The call may come tonight or tomorrow. I have been there with my mum. Take the day off and be with her. Hold her hand and tell her how you feel

Of course you can lean on him. It's times like this you do lean on them.

At least she is relaxed and not in pain, small mercies

im a puffy eyed mess at the moment (at 50 that is not a good look) my nan was such a smart lady too seeing her like that no make up hair not done was such a shock she would not even put the bin out without make up on she was really together for her age one of the things i admired about her

treasure all those wonderful memories you have made together

I'm so sorry, I'm going through similar now we were called to my nan in her care home last night as the doctor had seen her and said it could be between hours and days, she's still here but don't know how long for so like you am just waiting for a phone call

yes i thanked the nurses for making her comfortable shes sleeping peacefully at the moment im glad shes not suffering

Op, she just wasn't herself. My dad passed away 11 years ago and it really helps me when I'm feeling great sadness, to think of a funny thing he did or said.

it just all happened so quickly a few months ago she was pretty much independent (warden flat ) then a home and then this all in a few months just cant take it in

Ahh, it's so hard I know. But she will know how much you love her, and you will have been such a comfort to her today.
