Ah, I see, NdP.

My sister got caught by my mum w/her now DH. She was in her early 20s, but still living at home.

Even my own mother didn't tell my dad, though.

Although she did say, 'I hope you're using birth control so you won't end up like [insert name of anyone who had kids out of wedlock, which to her 1950s mentality, was a terrible fate]'

hulababy · 13/11/2006 12:31

I didn't discuss it with my mum, no. But I guess she probably worked out that I was sleeping with my boyfriend as we had been together for a long time. But we were both 17 by that time.

He was allowed to say over and I was allowed to sleep in the living room with him.. (we were both 17) but I think my parents probably put their heads in the sand and told themselves we just wanted to hold hands..

HuwEdwards · 13/11/2006 12:36

She did tell me when I was 19 (technically an aduly anyway and was planning a holiday with my then bf) that she knew I had a 'sex life', but in the context of 'be careful', not admonishment.

That was all that was ever said.

KathyMCMLXXII · 13/11/2006 12:41

Yes but she didn't know who with or where or what kind of sex .

Cod, I remember a middle-aged friend of mine saying with regard to his teenage daughters, 'I think I'd be upset if they didn't tell me.'
As you say, Noooooooooooooooooooooo.

expatinscotland · 13/11/2006 12:43

I wouldn't even tell them as an adult, much less a teen.

intergalacticwalrus · 13/11/2006 12:46

She must have, but I never told her. Just as I wasn't (and am still not) interested in her sexual goings on.

When my DSs are older, I won;t want to know if they are at it. I can't even bear the thought of it!!!!!!! DP thinks bothe of them will grow up to be studs. (to basically make up for his lack of success with woman over the years, I suspect!)

Bugsy2 · 13/11/2006 12:48

God no, I'd have been incarcerated in a nunnery while the word was still hanging in the air!

clumsymum · 13/11/2006 12:58

Yes she found out and was HORRIFIED (I was 17). She gave me the lecture about how no other man would ever want me, now I'd "been with a man".

My dad was much more calm about it. He bided his time until one evening when he and I went out to dinner alone together. We had a long and ernest discussion about it, which boiled down to him telling me that "as long as you are doing it because YOU want to, then okay" but a very stern warning about not getting pg (which I agreed with wholeheartedly).

SantaGotStuckUpTheGreensleeve · 13/11/2006 12:59

I wasn't. Well not until I was 18, anyway.

Bugsy2 · 13/11/2006 13:01

I was 18 too, Greeny (still a teenager though!!!) & I'd still have been put in a nunnery.

intergalacticwalrus · 13/11/2006 13:05

There's something not right about people who sleep with someone and then report back to their mum or dad.

I know someone like this. I'm fairly close to my mum, but there's just some things I want to keep to myself.

serenity · 13/11/2006 13:28

We didn't discuss it as such, but we were talking and I accidently said something that made it clear that me and DH (then BF) were. I was nearly 17, and we'd been together for nearly a year so they weren't really surprised.

lou33 · 13/11/2006 14:38

my mum wasnt hippyish either

i remember when i was 16 she told me she thought i should go on the pill, as i had a serious bf (he lived in london i had been going to see him for weekends since i was 15), and i had to tell her i had already sorted it, lol

I think my mum thought I was when I wasn't

She let me sleep at my boyfriend's dad's house (actually he was an ex by then... but a dubious breakup ), and we did the standard "Of course MrsFlamesparrow, they are sleeping in seperate rooms" (as I have seen her having the same conv with foster children's partner's parents - she tells me she has to be seen to be checking, knowing she can't stop it out of the house anyway), so she just assumed we were having sex... which we weren't

By the time I met DH and he moved in with us, she already assumed he was my 3rd or 4th I think!!

sleepfinder · 13/11/2006 16:11

She didn't know for 1 yr and then I told her - and while she was surprised, she was totally accepting and liberal about it. (I was 17-18)

oxocube · 14/11/2006 19:53

Have no idea! Its not something I would have discussed with my parents. Although strangely, I would feel comfortable if dd discussed this with me in the future (she is only 9) Different times, different relationships.

TinkersBollocks · 14/11/2006 19:57

No. But my dad cried when he found out I was no longer eligible to wear my white socks. And I was 19 when he found that out

earlysbird · 14/11/2006 20:32

no cos I wasn't!

GooseyLoosey · 14/11/2006 20:42

I thought not - however, I was naive. Years later a group of us were going to a friends wedding and met at my mam's house. It happend that 3 ex-boy friends from my teenage years were sitting on the sofa and my mam ran out into the kitchen laughing. When I went and asked her why she said "I suddenly thought all 3 of them had seen action on that sofa!" - not a conversation I ever really wanted to have with my mother and am blushing as I type.

When I was 19 she also came to pick me up at university at 4.00am. Following knock on door boyfriend hid in wardrobe - mother said "thought X would be here - made him a sandwich".
