has any one got nice in-laws?

It's sad to hear of so many difficulties with in-laws. Mine have always been lovely to me even though they had only met me about 3 times before we announced plans to marry. They never gave me a hard time about making them wait 12 years to be grandparents either. I'm sure they have their faults like any one else, but not for nothing did my cousin say at our wedding "Wow, you really lucked out with your in-laws!"

Has any one else out there got nice in-laws?

What a lucky bunch to have nice in laws! Great to hear. I am envious.

And of course, we'll all be great in laws when our turn comes!

What about sils and bils? My sil had all 3 of our children for a long weekend this year so that dh and I could go away on our own. She has done it about once a year since the last one toilet trained. Dh is v ungrateful and says it is a favour to let her borrow them and she should pay us!!!

Nope!

my dp's parents are great. I get on with them really well. We went on holiday with them this year and had a wonderful time. Planning to do same next year but for longer.

Get on well with dp's sister too.

Am very lucky that dp has a lovely family that I get on really well with. It makes my life so much better.

We are also close to my family. And live close to them all. We rely on both families to look after ds when I am at uni adn dp is at work. Its really good! I am very lucky and I know it

Yes, depending on their moods.
FIL is lovely - always there for us, loves the grandkids etc. His wife (step MIL) is slightly loud but she's lovely too.
MIL is okay, hardly see her but she's nice. Her hubby is nice too.
Grandparents in law are lovely - one side live about 100 miles away but when we visit, I love to hear stories of how they met etc. he other set live down the road, never take sides and always there.
SIL - used to really get on, used to go out once a week at least etc, but about six weeks before my wedding (two & 1/2 yrs ago) we had a massive argument and things haven't quite been right since.
BIL - DHs bro, not so great - always says the wrong thing, always has to be right, did a tonne of stuff at our wedding including smoking dope and stealing, and sees no wrong in it.

The in-laws my DH has (my relatives) are angelic, of course ;)

My mil is 80, and comes for 1 1/2 hours on the bus twice a week to help my nanny look after my kids after school until I get home from work. Sometimes she brings home-made cake for me too. Never met fil sadly.

Have one fab set of sil/bil, could take or leave the others really. They're nice but we've not become friends.

me, they are lovely people and adore my ds and are supremely proud of dh.

my soon to be ex-inlaws have just phoned to see what the children want for Xmas
then they asked what I wanted & when I dithered, my FIL suggested perfume - "the one you like"

funniest thing was when I asked MIL to knit some clothes for DD's doll & she misheard me "you're expecting !!!!" she said....immaculate conception I said (considering her son left me a yr ago)
we both had fits of laughter at her mistake.....

oh yes they're coming to stay with ME for the weekend in a couple of weeks time

fab inlaws

LoveMyGirls · 15/11/2006 21:02

Mine are the best imo.

They pay for us to go out for xmas dinner
They spoil our dd's rotten to the point where we need to move house to keep all the stuff they buy us but they ra egoing to help us out there as well and give us some money which is amazing!
They look after the dd's pretty much whenever we ask and dp goes there practically every weekend and takes the kids with him so i can have a break or crack on with things that need to be done.

they are so lovely and caring. yes they have their off days but really their hearts are in the right place and would put themselves out for time and time again and we all love them very much for it. i'm sure there will come a time we can repay them for their generosity and kindness.

Heartwarming to hear of all these lovely in-laws!
They set us a good example as well as helping us out now.
