this guy from online dating site is wasting my time right

Every few months he messages me and we chat a bit. Each time he forgets we've ever chatted before, asks the same questions and eventually just goes quiet.

He did this again this week and I said we've chatted before don't you remember. He said oh yes I thought you were familer and asked if I wanted to meet for real. I said yes, god knows why and agreed to meet today at 2pm.

Swapped numbers yesterday and he texted me to ask the same question he asked earlier In tjr day and a dozen times before! "What job do you do". I said I'd answered this today and many times before. He said sorry and said he'd had a long day. I sent a two word reply " management consultant " and ive heard nothing back.

He's just wasting my time right? He is obviously messaging so many people and seeing as he didn't reply to last message this date isn't happening?

I would agree with you, he's clearly casting a big net! Don't bother going and block him!

ScrambledEggAndToast · 30/05/2015 07:05

Definitely. I have had this so many times with people that I just laugh now and cringe for them. People who are obviously sending out the same messages word for word, how sad. Think you're onto a loser here unfortunately.

I remember a couple of guys like this on Internet dating, yeah complete waste of time, next time he messages just ignore him

Thanks, that has reassured me that he is a waste of space. I just don't get why he does it. Annoyingly I've blocked him several times. He keeps coming back with a new profile.

Annoyed with myself for even engageing with him, just because he was born decent looking.

Seeing as he's asked me out and we've agreed a date and time, but not a place and I was the last one to message him I would think he'd send another to agree a place or call it off. Its been 12 hour silent though.

He sounds hopeless.

OneFlewOverTheDodosNest · 30/05/2015 07:31

I found a couple of those online dating - I got cynical and started to think they were paid profiles created by the site to increase activity levels... May just be bitter though!

pettywitchinlondon · 30/05/2015 13:56

Surprise surprise its 2pm and he hasn't bothered to reply to my message and we were supposed to meet now

Big net. Thanks for that sums it all up

Weird he keeps making new profiles. Sounds like he enjoys the chat more than the meet up. Probably married to someone and just has no intention ever on acting on the chats. You did the right thing.

Cabrinha · 01/06/2015 07:16

He is a time waster. But if this is at least the third time he's popped up and has asked the same question a dozen times, why are you even asking this?
You're a management consultant, you've obvious got the smarts - and yet you put up with this shit because he's good looking?
Come on!
Have you changed his name in your phone to "time waster" yet?

pettywitchinlondon · 01/06/2015 08:36

Oh I know I should know better, every time its a good long time past. I get lonely is my feeble defence Blush

I deleted his number a while ago, it stayed in my phone book for less than 48hours. Just want to tell him he's a waste of space but I know I shouikd just block / ignore.

Absolutely block.

For whatever reason, he likes the 'chat', but won't ever meet up with you. If he has a photo on his profile, I'd bet it's not of him. Or maybe him 20 years ago.

SelfLoathing · 01/06/2015 10:41

each time he forgets we've ever chatted before,

LOL. I can't believe you engaged with him more than once. For me, when I was doing OLD, anyone who messaged me not remembering we'd chatted before was a "next" - simply because you want someone who is interested enough at the start to like how you look and what you say to the point where they remember you!

Yes block. But you should have blocked him ages ago.

Generally, if people like you and are serious, they move to phone calls/real life meet up pretty quickly.

Exception is if you are just looking for a random hook up rather than a relationship - in which case go for it.

Try doing a reverse image search (Google images or tineye.com). I wouldn't be surprised if he's just used someone else's photo.

Wrapdress · 01/06/2015 11:58

YES - I have had this happen - gorgeous young stud (I'm 51) - obviously was messaging a ton of women - asking me same questions over and over - then we had a phone call - oh geez what a disaster that was. Same questions by the way - which I called him out on. Then he asked - "Do you have a red dress? Will you wear cherry lip gloss? Do you have any younger friends?" Still makes me laugh.

I thought at one point his text just had to be for someone else, but I answered it anyway and he pretended like it was meant for me. It's like he was just randomly picking numbers in his phone to text and he really had no idea who he was texting.

I finally just stopped replying. A month went by of silence and then he texted me again - called me Sweetie - Hey Sweetie how was your weekend? - lol. I ignored him. I thought the whole thing was hilarious because it was such an over the top mess. Silly gorgeous stupid man.

pettywitchinlondon · 01/06/2015 12:12

Oh he's wasn't that good looking ha!

Think he was just after a hookup, funny thing is he complained about being annoyed by other people on there! When actually he is the worst as did a kind of standing up on me, keep messaging wanting to make plans, but never follow through.

Want to call him a looser but he probably has no idea who I am and that he's been such a dick!
