we are going to bil's wedding next month with ds(10 months)because we live 1hr away from mil their friends (they've got loads, 12 came to our daytime wedding doo)except 1 haven't met our ds. we may not be there that long, it starts at 4pm ds usually goes to bed about 6ish but i'm a bit concerned i'll feel a bit overwhelmed by it all. any tips?

not really sure what the problem is?

Are you worried they will all want to hold your DS? I wouldn't worry too much - it's only a couple of hours and they won't want to be hanging round you all that time surely?

might not be understanding what you mean but am not sure why you'd feel overwhelmed?

Put on your chattiest, friendliest persona and get talking to other (young, like minded) people (even if you don't know them) at the wedding therefore avoiding the old hag's friends as much as possible.

Make sure your frock has easy access for breastfeeding and feed him lots if you don't want him passed around like a parcel.

Remember, you've got a baby - you can leave whenever you want and get DS to bed. Just sigh and say that you've got to go now circa 8pm.

Other than that, grit your teeth, have a slug of wine and be the nicest, friendliest, lack-of-fault kinda gal you can for a few hours. These occasions are a pain but you get through them AND manage to come out smelling of roses too.

Good luck!
