Menopause and libido

Just wondering if any wise MN'ers would be willing to share any insight as to whether you thought the menopause had any positive or negative effect on libido, or possibly no change? Will happen one day and I'm just being curious as to it's effects?

I'm perimenopausal and mine has gone through the roof!

I would imagine it is different for everyone.

Probably about 1/2 way through and mine has improved Grin

Costacoffeeplease · 25/05/2015 21:22

Yes I'd say improved too, 49, post hysterectomy

MyRightFoot · 25/05/2015 21:43

i didnt notice any difference. i sailed thru it, a few hot flushes but thats all. no hrt nothing. i used to have painful periods so the menopause has been wonderful for me.

What libido :(

It was never great but it's non existent now.

FlabulousChix · 25/05/2015 21:45

I'm also peri menopausal and I never think about sex or feel in the need for sex. I believe I'm now a sexual. But that could be more circumstance and history

Mine went up like a rocket in the couple of years before it happened: it was like being 30 years younger! Now, two years on it's almost dormant, although happily it does rear its head from time to time, ie every 10 days or so.

Thanks for the feedback ladies, I still get amazed by some female subjects seeming taboo ( the things you realise about childbirth after the event for instance :-0).
