It would seem you think that if a woman's partner & other people want her to sacrifice herself or her life, she should make the sacrifice. I'm not sure why you would think that's reasonable.

I'm sure the children are much happier now their mother is. You wouldn't be blameless and if you can't admit you were at fault you would never have changed

If a life, an actual life needed "conserving", against the emotional upheaval of any sort of split; I am fairly sure most people would favour the option where everyone makes it out alive.
