What is it about May?

Why are there so many affair threads on MN at this time of year? It was May when I discovered my DH's affair, and in that particular year there were quite a few other similar threads at the same time. This year it's the same - some real bstrd men treating lovely women so badly. I've noticed the same in other years. Weird. I know affair threads are a regular feature on this board, for obvious reasons, but a disproportionate number seem to come to light at this time of year.

Spring gives people an urge to move on... and a lot of them are exit affairs? Maybe?

Come to think of it, the first time I caught my ex cheating was in May.

Alternative theory: a lot of affairs start at the office xmas party and after 4-5 months they get careless.

It's down to the weather. When there's more sunlight it raises vitamin D levels which increases testosterone in both men and women (makes them hornier).

in te animal kingdom spring time is when they go sec crazed ... Could that have anything to do with it?

Interesting theories. There must be something though, as it seems to be the month where long and shorter term affairs come to light.

It's the third anniversary of d day for me today.

Sorry for anybody going through the crisis of a family breakup, goes without saying.

However, wouldn't the affair-ing have had to have started a bit before May? April at the earliest? Not much sunlight in April.

I personally think that it has something to do with the after effects of Christmas (disappointments?), New Year (resolutions failures?), credit card bills ongoing and holiday expectations. Affairs can be a distraction to all of that.
