Dh and I may be at the end of the line. We love each other but there is a huge backstory and others are being affected. We may decide to legally separate within the next couple of months.
Is it possible to stay close, as in friends ?

Yes it is, but only if neither of you carries a grudge.

It helps if you were friends before the relationship. If however you were only friends because of the relationship then it's unlikely

My mum and dad and step-mum are all best friends. We have the perfect blended family too and all family occasions (christmas birthdays and celebrations) are spent together.

Mum and dad really like each other, but in Disney fashion, they weren't each other's one true love.

Yes, i have managed it with my ex, we split in 2011. It took time, but we were always good friends above all else. But as ppsaid, it can only work if neither of you hold grudges or blame, and have boundaries in place. This happened naturally for us; neither of us wantsto intervene in each other's personal life.

Best you can hope for is separate and civil.

I know some exes who go on holiday with there new partners and the combined kids.

I'm off to dance the night away at my ex husband's wedding next month, as is my Mum. If you both want it, it can be done. Good luck.

I am trying hard to stay friends but i'm not sure. My dh moved out 2 months ago it wasn't what i wanted but i accept i played a part. We have always been friends etc & he says he wants to get along. But there are niggles so i'm not sure if it can anymore than friendly/amicable for the children.

I do hope that we can at least be civil if it comes to a split, it's just a really sad situation Sad
