Anyone else get bored with replying to OD messages, but still do it

I'm fairly laid back about OD. Don't get emotionally involved with someone I've just exchanged a few messages with etc.

Yet I feel the need to check my messages several times a day and reply. I'm quite an efficient person in my daily life - very organised; reply promptly to emails/correspondence etc - but thinking its best not to be too efficient with OD as better to create some mystique etc.

What do others think?

I can't see the point with game playing with OD. You are obviously on there to meet someone...... a desire to create mystique (!) will most likely be lost on your potential matches.

LL0015 · 30/03/2015 15:57

OD is a distraction for me. I come and go with it, but when I am using it, I do check it regularly for messages. Most I don't reply to at all, total degenerates.

But I am in a strange love triangle situation and it keeps coming and going in my life which impacts the OD coming and going.

Don't judge yourself with OD. Let it do it's own thing and carry you along with it. But when in doubt.... DELETE!

Pinklaydee1302 · 30/03/2015 17:17

Yes I get bored with the monotony but yes as someone said u could miss the love of your life by not checking Smile

MaryDrapersDaughter · 30/03/2015 17:20

Pinklaydee that's it exactly.

I check all the time but its so disheartening when you don't get many responses

QueenBean · 30/03/2015 17:23

What does OD stand for? Confused

spence82 · 30/03/2015 17:24

Online dating

QueenBean · 30/03/2015 17:38

Oh thanks!

I'll get off this thread Blush

handfulofcottonbuds · 30/03/2015 17:55

niceupthedance · 30/03/2015 17:58

I have just stopped replying to messages which say 'hi how are you?'. That might be a conversation starter in a bar but really, where is it going to go online? 'Fine thanks' Blush

handfulofcottonbuds · 30/03/2015 18:07

nice - I agree

Or just 'hi' or 'what you up to?' or 'hey' or no effort at all. It's lazy.

spence82 · 30/03/2015 18:37

It's weird when I've tried to he imaginative with my opening I've had hardly any replies but a hi how are you normally gets a response

Pinklaydee1302 · 30/03/2015 19:54

Handful yes but they probably message every woman on there u the hope they get at least ONE response ??

SoleSource · 30/03/2015 20:09

I was fed up of the 'Hi Hun', the so what are you looking for? How long have you been single and why? Just sleazeball chancers.

LL0015 · 30/03/2015 20:15

I've had a few classics this week

T - Tinder man
M - me

T Hey You.....
M .........Guys

Then I felt a bit bad so I replied again

M That's one of my favourite films, I wondered if you know it?
T Hi.....

Confused

And on POF I actually received the following;
Your like a fine wine and have clearly got better with age Shock

WTF (His bad grammar incidentally, not mine)? You think you are complimenting me but you just totally insulted me.

And one guy whose opener was
Wanna Hug (wish I could send him a Biscuit)

Pinklaydee1302 · 30/03/2015 20:30

I've had:

'Get yer coat...'??

Hissy · 30/03/2015 20:33

Classic!

I got this only the other day:

"Hi there, your so pretty. Is your surname Gillette? Because you are the Best a Man can Get"

I kid you not! Hilarious

handfulofcottonbuds · 30/03/2015 20:34

Pink I agree, some actually reply surprised that I say thanks but no thanks and are grateful for a reply.

Best one I had was "I'm in love and you're the lucky lady". Oh my, he looked like a Tim Burton character and displayed zero personality!

LL0015 · 30/03/2015 20:36

Ha Hissy that is funny.
I am currently responding to all the degenerates by saying thanks for messaging me but you are not my type, good luck.

I'm feeling kind tonight

passthewineplz · 30/03/2015 20:40

"I would!" Is the best I've had this week. Tbh I'm really bored with the OD, there's no one I remotely fancy, or anyone attractive to want to start a conversation with. I'm beginning to feel like I'll be single forever! It's bloody depressing seeing what's out there!Sad

passthewineplz · 30/03/2015 20:42

I've learnt it's best to block the degenerates, and not get into conversations with them, as they end up being very nasty

MadeMan · 30/03/2015 20:42

It's about as fun as sending out spec letters for jobs.

spence82 · 30/03/2015 20:57

At least this this thread has given me some pointers on what not to say

LL0015 · 31/03/2015 00:58

Stroke of luck this eve tho!
Just found someone from dim and distant past who I used to fancy many moons ago.
I have a date lined up!

Wrapdress · 31/03/2015 01:05

I got this one this week:

"MMMMMMMMMM you look good!!!!! MY MY....let's chat......."

LOL!! Let's not.
