House parties- what goes on?

In my late 40s and fairly recently divorced. Have made some new friends and been invited to a birthday party at a guys house next week - there's no romantic slant here and a few other people I know to speak to will be there.

I'm just feelsing rather clueless as haven't been to a party since I was in my 20s.

Can you give me some guidance to help me over my nerves and enjoy the party?

I expect there will be booze, food, music.... Hmm Is there some kind of back story? Are you being set up?

Sex drugs and rock and roll Grin . Just kidding!!!!!! cant remember last time I got to do that x

At least there will be people you know there to talk to. Im sure you will have a lovely time but for any reason its not your thing or you've had enough, make your excuses and leave. Try not to worry, relax and have a lovely time xxx

A strong recommendation from me is to have your own transport, either car or a public transport plan. Finding yourself at a party you're not enjoying, but dependent on s lift home from someone who wants to stay till the bitter end, is grim.

There will be food, music - ours usually start off with everyone standing around drinking & chatting. Most people end up in the kitchen (I have no idea why), we eat, drink more, music gets turned up & some people will dance, eat more food, drink more. Then people go home!
I love a good house party Grin

House parties are usually food, drink, music and standing in a kitchen for hours. Have fun and if you're not enjoying it, leave! Smile

Made man that did make me laugh, if I tried those moves now I'm sure I'd end up in A&E.
