Partner can't ejaculate

I have name changed for this. I have been with my partner just over two years, he has no problem getting an erection, but he cannot ejaculate.

He is finding this really upsetting, and he also gets embarrassed. He won't go to the GP, he says he has not come for around five years, either having penetrative sex, oral sex or masturbation.

We have googled it, apparently it is called delayed ejaculation, and as far as we can see none of the reasons there apply, ie alcohol, medication etc.

Has anyone had this problem, and would you be willing to share if you resolved it, how long this took and how (by PM if tmi)?

I bet this is the ADs. Sertraline and similar can stop orgasms and libido for years! No cure if it's this other than hoping it just happens one day. Would still ask him to be checked on though in case of underlying physical cause.

Sertraline completely killed my sex drive but it came back with a vengeance as soon as I stopped taking it. It does sound like that could be the cause, I would really urge him to go to the GP. I know it's embarrassing for him but if it's something that could potentially be fixed then it'll be worth it. He might feel better about going if you suggest it could be linked to the medication he was on, rather than it just happening.

My dp had very high blood pressure (discovered during a routine check) and gp gave him Citalopram (AD) for the blood pressure and signed him off his high stress job for 3 months..

Within two weeks of starting the AD he had a problem re ejaculation and realised straight off that it was probably the meds. Sure enough, all was ok after 2 or 3 weeks. Bear in mind he was only taking it for 2 weeks.
Being on it for longer may have had a more problematic result.

That's definitely a possibility, he was on sertraline for quite a while. I'll raise the subject, although the longer the problem goes on the harder it gets to talk about it. At least I could try and find out more about the effects of sertraline online.
