Would like a lovely venue, good food and somewhere a bit lively afterwards (preferably all under one roof). Needs to be london - doesn't have to be cheap it's a big bday so pushing the boat out. I want somewhere quite memorable...

Please give me some inspiration...

how many people? and what budget? you could be talking hiring the kensington roof gardens or simply taking a group to Morton's... (for a 50th, lots of the private clubs would be q suitable - got anyone who can get you in for Morton's / Hertford St / Home House? I think Black's takes bookings from non members)

It's for quite a small amount of people say about 5 for a meal then another 5-10 people will be turning up after the meal for drinks / possible dancing. My worries about private dining is the lack of atmosphere...

Don't know anyone who has links to private clubs but I could out my feelers out there....

Sir John Soane's museum in Lincoln's Inn Fields has a lovely dining room (all candlelit) for up to about 12 people I think. And you can browse round the very interesting museum too.
