With Valentine's Day coming up, I was wondering what people's best and worst V-Day pressies have been. Share those highlights/lowlights here.

Worst was none... 'A commercial waste of time' apparently!! Best a bunch of 24 red roses with some beautiful earrings in xx

TwitterWooooo · 09/02/2015 22:42

A surprise warm milk bath with red rose petals, incense, music, scented candles and music.

LineRunner · 09/02/2015 22:47

When I was about 23, a little package came through my letterbox on Valentine's Day.

It was a tiny heart shaped tin with my name etched on, with a very small piece of paper in it on which was hand written a sweet original poem, with a little jewel stuck on the side.

I never found out who sent it.

The poem was about 'girl of my dreams'.

Worst: a (bought, generic) card written in pencil (yes, he wanted to reuse it) and the suggestion I could ask for whatever I wanted in bed. (gee thanks, thought I could ASK any time being a person and all). Still not my worse valentines day though Blush (not quite being dumped due to proposal and stuck in a foreign country with people who wanted to discuss our wedding plans).
Best: a single red rose. Because he stood there at 6.30 in the morning in the falling snow to wait to give it to me (g'aw) as I was off to New York that morning. He didn't drive, the journey must have been a PITA. He was my first boyfriend and he was a sweetheart.

Written in pencil!!! flora you win.

I don't do gits on V-day - would rather save the money for a babysitter and a meal out :)

pocketsaviour · 10/02/2015 13:31

*gifts Blush

knowledgeispower · 10/02/2015 13:51

Worst: nothing "let's not bother this year"Hmm

Best: a block of mexican cheese, wine, and a meal out Smile

LulaPalooza · 10/02/2015 13:55

I have rarely been given Valentine's Day presents, because it's my Birthday the day before Sad

Nameochangeo1234567 · 10/02/2015 14:04

Worst- an old boss (yes boss) gave me a goldern bullet sex toy in an envelope and said 'happy valentines day' I was 17 he was about 50. I probably vomited, and defiantly quit. Best - bunch of red roses and a diamond necklace I received last year was lovely. :D

QuintlessShadows · 10/02/2015 14:12

I got a handheld vacuum cleaner.

It was very thoughtful. Hmm
Valentines is also my birthday, and on that year fell on Mothersday in my country of origin. So triple whammy crap present.

That was 12 years ago now, and I have not really had a present since.

My friend got worse. Her fiance flew out to his ex in Jamaica, and dumped my friend over the phone on valentines.

trowelmonkey1 · 10/02/2015 14:59

Worst: a red lace neglige from Ann Summers. I'm not small by any stretch of the imagination and I have enormous boobs - I looked like a hippo in a net curtain.

That was my first valentines with my now DH and he learned his lesson. Now we just have a nice home cooked meal and bottle of wine Smile

PetrovaFossil1 · 10/02/2015 15:24

Worst - his old milk teeth in a velvet bag...

Marshpillow · 10/02/2015 15:28

I also was given a card written in pencil... He wrote it in front of me and didn't bother putting it in the envelope because I was "just going to take it back out again anyway".

niceupthedance · 10/02/2015 15:31

A Tesco value Valentine's card. We split up two months later.

OnIlkelyMoorBahtat · 10/02/2015 15:43

"his old milk teeth in a velvet bag" ?????! I think you win Petrova, by a country mile.

I once got give an unwritten valentine's card, still in it's cellophane wrapper. I mean, really, why bother?

Fluffybrain · 10/02/2015 16:02

Milk teeth!!!! Hahaaaa!

Best: never had any valentines card or gifts ever.
Worse: got dumped on Valentine's day.

ASAS · 10/02/2015 16:09

Best Valentine's present: first love dumped me. Meh. I was always destined for greater things.

WonderMuffins · 10/02/2015 16:16

How did you know it was Tesco Value?
Do tesco value valentines cards have the blue and white stripe design on them? In a heart shape perhaps?

I took DP to Rome when we were students for a romantic city break, only problem was we missed the flight & then when we finally got there the hotel was a bit of a hovel. Still, good for students. Been together 15 years now & mega happy.

LadyBlaBlah · 10/02/2015 16:17

Salt and pepper pots for worst

Going to yoga and not having to participate the best

Justmuddlingalong · 10/02/2015 16:26

Worst: a hip and thigh exercise book and a rowing machine Confused (Was a size 8 at the time)
Best: a surprise 4 day mini break in Paris

King1982 · 10/02/2015 16:44

What is the best/worst you have given, people that have posted? We need some context Wink

LineRunner · 10/02/2015 16:50

What have I given?

Worst: fuck all
Best: fuck all

I do though often ponder on the horrific martyred death of St Valentine if that helps. Smile

Groovester · 10/02/2015 17:01

Woke up and my dp (now DH) had covered the flat in loveheart shaped post it notes all beginning with "I love you because..."
There were about 50 of them all hand written, all different and really thoughtful too.
I knew he was a keeper!
