Does anyone have any uk experience of this? Asking for a family friend who is 15.

From what I've read the up has to be financially self sufficient and prove their family home is unsuitable.

Does a care order amount to the same thing? Thank you

I'd think very few 15 year olds would be able to earn enough to be financially independent.
A lot of advice out on the web is aimed at those in the USA where laws are different.
If its a question of strife within the family probably the best bet is approaching social services in the 15 year olds area. The rules are diffrent in Scotland to NI, England and Wales.
