Why not , surely it only takes a few minutes? What happens if you just go into the bathroom ?

Who can't stay with the baby? If you've got a partner who is refusing to be a parent you've got problems. In the meantime, you can do what I used to do (lone parent from birth) and park your baby in their carry cot or bouncy chair in the bedroom while you take a shower.
