What is Instagram? I suspect some foul play

To my first question what is Instagram?

My DH has started acting suspicious around his phone, not text messages as they are displayed onscreen and he asks me to read out the message and who it's from.

Today I heard his phone bleeping but not his standard ringtone. As his phone was on the side I clicked the home button to view the time as I do all the time and I saw a notification for Instagram. He was in the toilet a little while later so I pressed the home button again as I could hear what I assume as him texting but I held the home button a bit too long and Siri got activated. He opened the toilet door and yelled at me what in the hell are you doing.

We share a Apple ID so I can see when he has downloaded this app and it coensides when a few new temps started and I'm slightly on guard as whilst a good friend of myself and DH was here I overheard this friend mention how nice it was having some eye candy in the workplace. They work in a male environment.

There has been previous issues with trust regarding facebook, is this or could be history repeating itself?

it's a social media app to share photos.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 16/01/2015 20:09

It's just a photo sharing app so in itself is not at all dodgy.

people basically document their entire lives on it through pictures. Every meal they eat, places they go, endless selfies. Businesses use it to promote themselves and their products.
Find out who he is following on there. I follow the odd celeb, some fitness type people, some bloggers, some fashion stuff

You can now private message on Instagram

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 16/01/2015 20:23

Instagram is just photo sharing. Of anything (mainly kids, pets and dinners), but it is always possible he is sharing other types.

The attitude from him would make me think he has somehing to hide, but I dont think its Instagram.

It's like Facebook but with photos. Basically you can either have a private or public account- like Facebook and you upload pics and people can comment on them and you can comment on other people's. I have a public instagram account for my artwork. Lots of artists and photographers use it.

Nothing to worry about in itself... its more worrying that you don't trust him at all. Why is that?

CatsClaus · 16/01/2015 20:26

yes..photos of your days out/cakes/pets/dinners/selfies/sunsets

but you can comment on photos, tag people so they see your photos, and I think you can message folks too.

I love it....but am a shallow as a puddle! It's like facebook without the commitment and privacy!

Fairylea · 16/01/2015 20:26

Sorry just seen he's acting suspicious. I'd create you own instagram and look him up

mindifidont · 16/01/2015 20:27

If you get Instagram yourself you can follow him and then see who he is following and what photos he likes and comments on.

UrsulaBuffay · 16/01/2015 20:30

You won't see if he's sending photos to people privately though

Poppiesway · 17/01/2015 09:27

How do you private message on Instagram??
I can't see how or find anything to do that..

UrsulaBuffay · 17/01/2015 09:30

On the app, there's kind of a little tray symbol I think in the top corner. You send a picture to someone and after that you can both chat in private below. Famously misused by James Franco and an underage fangirl!
