On the subject of pop ups...

Historical event, I am no longer with DP but have always wondered...

I found a window open on the laptop. It wasn't a full size window but a smaller, square one. The screen of this window was black (from memory) but at the top, on the title bar it said something to indicate it was a live porn webcam interface. DP was known to have visited porn sites, in particular Redtube. At the time I was led to believe it was a pop up but I wasn't able to recreate it. It was not Livejasmin.

So, out of curiosity, do you think it was a pop up or not?

If it said webcam then prob a webcam.

Hmm, not necessarily. These pop-ups may appear without warning, and maybe are over sold or promoted in the title bar to get you to watch? I'd imagine you'd have to pay or subscription?

It could definitely have been a spammy/scammy popup from a legit site. It could also have been a cam window.

However - if he'd been watching a cam window in secret, it seems unlikely he'd forget to close it!

So I would lean towards spam/random popup, in the absence of other info.

A true pop-up is a separate browser window - it has it's own memory and resources.

However, thanks to better browser design, plus plug-ins/add-ons, plus the fact that it's very bad form to allow processes to create other processes without permission, true pop-ups are increasingly rare.

That said, a lot of sites do have graphics which look like pop ups. They can even have their own border and look like a separate browser window. However they're not. They are just a floating picture over the main website. Unlike true pop ups, they don't need permission.

Not sure if this will help ...

Web cam window. Could have just looked though. Doesn't mean he paid for anything. That site has this stuff on it.
