Q about Relate, costs and sex therapy

Had a first session with Relate today. Woman we saw was great and think it will help with a few communication problems DP and I have been having.

I have a question about costs though. Looked at a table with numbers in £0-5,000, £5,000-10,000, £10,001-20,000 etc and costs per session next to each one.

We said the bracket our gross salaries fall into but looking back wonder if the numbers are actually be income? On gross salaries it works out as £100 per session, so £400+ a month. This is far more than I thought it would be (counselling I have had before has been less than half of that per hour). Anyway if we should go by income it may be more manageable.

(While we earn decent money we have very high outgoings and a house move coming up)

The counsellor also mentioned a sex therapy course thing. Has anyone done this? Be grateful to know what it's like/how it works.

We nearly did one! It was great and quite helpful. Tell them if you can't afford fees-tell them how much you could afford.

The table is only a guidance. They are usually flexible.

If you go as a couple than this is more expensive than individual counselling. So if your previous counselling was just for you, it's not surprising that it was cheaper.

For joint counselling I'd say £60 is a sensible but realistic price. Per hour, per couple. £100 is indeed very high.

I think the price for single counselling was still based on joint income/salary.
