How do you have an exciting sex life when your dc get older?

DCs are aged 10 and 8. They are great and in many respects our relationship is better as we have more uninterrupted time together as they are more independent and able to amuse themselves for longer. The only downside is they are not tired and often not asleep until around 10pm by which time we often only have feel like a quickie. How do you manage to have exciting sex when the dc are awake later?

Send them to their rooms by 9 latest. They can read or do something quietly until they fall asleep.
Also get a lock for your bedroom door and tell them you need alone time.

Go up after dinner for a bath and some sex whilst they watch their favourite programme? Let them have the volume up. Everyone is a winner.

My daughter is 12 and goes up at 9pm and keeps a regular waking up pattern (luckily for us we've discovered this).

We have a lock on our door and our room is in a long conversion that's sound insulated to within an inch of it's life and all rooms on the house have fire doors for sound insulation.

Lie-ins on weekends - laptops have a purpose. Go on holidays without your children.

Dd is 12 and we send her up to her room at 8.30 school nights and 9 pm weekends. She doesn't have to sleep - she has a dvd player (no access to live TV so we know what she's watching) and of course she can read but it works for us - she also seems to enjoy the peace on her own for the last half hour or so before bed!

Early night means early morning thus early morning sex...
