First date help & advice please!

Been lurking for a while, but need some advice now and this seemed like a place I'd get some decent advice from!

Tomorrow I have a date. My first ever and I'm slightly too old for that to really be the case! I've never even kissed a guy, having always been to busy focusing on my studies, hobbies and work etc.

"Met" him online and he seems nice enough, we got chatting and he's going away for work for a long time soon and wanted to meet me before he goes, (fine by me, if it goes terrible then there is no chance of awkwardly running into each other for a good long while!).

Just need some reassuring advice really!

I think don't put too much pressure on yourself. Just see it as a first meet rather than a date. Wear something you feel comfortable in. Have a few things you might like to ask / find out about him (if there are any silences). If you don't find him interesting or attractive it's ok to say that you're ready to leave.

Most of all just enjoy it - and update on here after :)

You need to treat it as "no big deal"

A first meeting on OLD is date zero - it's not a true "date" because you haven't actually met yet. It's more of a mutual check-each-other-out to see if there is chemistry. That goes for you too. It's for you to see if you want to see him again.

Bear in mind that most people doing OLD will go on LOTS and LOTS of date zeros. So although it may be unusual for you, it probably won't be for him.

Don't over dress. Keep it casual and try and relax.

Don't drink too much and don't let a total stranger serve you a drink that you haven't witnessed the bar man pour in front of you (ie. don't let anyone have the opportunity to slip rohypnol in your drink).

I went on my first date from online yesterday. It was quite awkward but went okay. Just remember the first meeting is just to see if you have an connection, so try not worry about it so much and keep your options open.

Got my clothes sorted, and it's a very low pressure meet up, during the day at a town near me.

I'm trying to treat it is a "no big deal", and I know that meeting him is no big deal, I think it's just because I've never done anything like this before that I'm so nervous!

I'll be driving, and it's during the day, so no alcohol. I'm not worried about the safety aspects of things so much, it's an area I know & he doesn't and I've told a friend where I'm going etc.
