I used to be positive at the prospect of finding love at the age of 35.
But since coming on mumsnet all I've heard is how anything past 30 means your over the hill, will probably end up resigned to singledom, and the general panic of finding someone quick before you reach the dreaded forties because after that you may as well forget it.
I really don't feel 30's or 40's means your old or past it in the dating world but why do so many feel this way?
I know that not everyone feels like this but I have read a lot of posts on here lately mentioning the age factor in finding love and I'm beginning to think as I'm approaching 36 that I have limited time to find love.
Perhaps I'm just reading things wrong on here.

I think it depends if you want children with this person. I met dh at 21 and we'd completed our family at 29 so I think I would be feeling gloomy if I hadn't met someone yet at the age of 35.

I found myself single at 36. Met husband at 37 and now at 38 we are expecting our first baby.

How odd! I've never seen anyone on here proclaim you're over the hill by 30 and unlikely to meet someone and fall in love.

sillymillyb · 26/10/2014 09:44

I'm the opposite, I'm 33 and always feel more positive that I'll meet someone (even tho I'm old and haggered!) after reading mn.

I think people who are desperate for a relationship would panic at any age.

I'm in my 40s and quite 'meh' about finding love. Certainly not over the hill but maybe fewer men search my online dating profile as they usually have absurdly low/optimistic age search criteria. Grin

I could not disagree more! I don't think MN is full of stories like that at all. I guess perhaps if you have a fear or worry you see things that further support that fear?

Anyway, long story short..... At 35 was engaged, wedding planned and he left! I was so worried about what I would do. What about kids etc I was very miserable. Went out drinking with my friends 4 months later and met the love of my life, we had a baby 6 months ago (I was 37) and now busy planning our wedding. I couldn't be happier!!!

I know a lot more about myself, what I want and what I don't so for me meeting someone later in life has made me much more secure and happier about the choices I have made.
