PIL separating after 40y of marriage. DH and SIL not taking it well.

Has any of you had similar experiences.

My parents divorced when I was 18 and it did not come as a shock too much and I could see why and kind of understood. not saying it was easy as dad behaved like an idiot.

but DH and SIL are in their early forties and been married and divorced once already.
I know it hurts and one's always a kid but surely they should understand and be supportive of both? or shouldn't they?

prob just a shock for them both
dh parents have been married 36 yrs and i would expect them to stay together forever so if they said they were splitting up i would be shocked too

its somewhat like a death so support your dh
