Have any other mums had to move back home with their parents/in-laws?

Hi, I'm looking to speak to other mums who have done this - I lived with my in-laws for almost a year, and found it somewhat challenging...

I'm doing some research for my Postgrad into the experience of living back at home with your parents or with your in-laws and how it affects the female experience for mothers - please do get in touch if so. Thanks v much

Not sure what experiences / circumstances you need. My DH, 2 DC and I moved in with my parents for four months while having major housing renovations done. PM me if that will help.

Hi I am currently living back with my parents. Myself, DH & 3 kids moved in just over a year ago. We love it and now it's going to be a permanent move :)

Yeah Lady Mary but Downton's huge - you could easily go for months without seeing other occupants.

Noooooo! When I married DH we lived with his dad! I didn't marry my fil! That's too jezza for me!

I lived with mine for six months while we sold our house, it was fine. I would have preferred to be in my own home but given they were doing us an enormous favour I really don't have room to complain.

Me and OH live with his DM and SD and we love it.
We are expecting our first child in 8 weeks and the plan is to stay until she turns 18 months.

I lived with the in laws with my ex husband for several months. It set the end of my marriage in motion; they opened my mail and challenged me on our debts (not massive and being well managed), wouldn't stop hassling me about my weight, kept leaving knitted baby clothes "for charity" in our room when they knew we were struggling with TTC. They held some fairly racist and homophobic views, I grew tired of Daily Mail style rants at the dinner table. He did not challenge their behaviour or support me. I eventually moved in with a friend in another city, and the marriage never recovered.

We stayed with my in-laws when my so was 3 years old and the house building over-ran. It was hell. She systematically undermined my parenting, housewife and any other skill-set she could.
Father-in-law was drunk the whole time and it all came to an end when he fed my child gluten to our allergic child.
Learned valuable lessons from my outlaws how not to involve myself in their lives.

We housed my son and his girlfriend /fiancé /wife (same) wonderful woman. They moved into their own rented apartment beginning of September. I am excited that they invite me to dinner and I invite them.
