Wedding gift for my husband-to-be?

Hi all, I'm getting married in a few weeks and want to surprise my husband-to-be with a present on our wedding day. Has anyone got any ideas for what they have bought on this occasion? We will be marrying in the Caribbean so I cant take anything big/heavy!

I gave DH a fob watch having had it engraved. He wore a waistcoat for the wedding and this seemed right for him (he doent wear a wrist watch)

For DD's 18th we gave her a leather bound notebook with her initials on it.

I'd get him an engraved fountain pen. But then again I like fountain pens and I'd be looking forward to using it myself.

CheeseToastie123 · 16/09/2014 13:09

I bought mine a pen. Not a fountain pen, he's not keen on them. A gorgeous rollerball. He loved it, and still uses it despite us splitting up!

My family give DHs-to-be napkin rings. They are generally given to us as baptismal gifts but as we generally marry hardcore atheists and they don't tend to have them!

Interesting ideas ladies! Thank you!

I bought DH a watch and gave it to him the morning we got married. He was pretty pleased.

Does he like diving? There are some v cool diving sports watches that guys like [not the ludicrously expensive type that can also be used for diving iykwim]

I bought my DH to be a season ticket to Chelsea. He's not a romantic or sentimental man.Grin

That was twenty five years ago. We're still going very strong.Smile

ImperialBlether · 16/09/2014 15:16

Matilda, that sorts out your anniversary presents, too!

Subhuman · 16/09/2014 15:22

I know someone who did a naughty photo shoot and put the pictures in a sealed envelope then had the best man give them to the groom on the morning of the wedding.

Simbathecat · 16/09/2014 15:30

I did had a boudoir photo shoot (very tasteful) and album given to him on the morning of our wedding. Seemed to go down well! Mine came in a small photo album so would be easy to pack.

VirtualPointyHat · 16/09/2014 15:43

I bought DH a camera to record our life together

Horsemad · 16/09/2014 15:50

We didn't bother wedding presents, heck he was getting me, nothing else would beat that!!! Smile

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 16/09/2014 16:02

I had a custom-made waistcoat made for dh - he wore it on our wedding day, and still has it. I found a tailor in London who made it with my choice of silk and brocade.

Twinklestein · 16/09/2014 16:04

A super amazing watch that he really wanted.

ItsNotEasyBeingGreen · 16/09/2014 16:06

Socks - so he doesn't get cold feet.

B-bom!

CuthbertDibble · 16/09/2014 16:15

I bought mine some personalised cufflinks, he loved them.

I'm getting married soon and I've bought my fiance tickets to a gig I know he'll love - he has an engraved watch from me and doesn't wear jewellery so I thought it would be something to look forward to doing together! I plan to put a hamper together with the gig tickets, a letter, cufflinks for him to wear and something to drink to celebrate with his groomsmen (thinking champagne beer but not sure what that's like) along with a letter Smile bit soppy but I guess you're allowed on your wedding day! Congratulations and good luck gift shopping!Smile

overmydeadbody · 16/09/2014 17:13

I got DH a watch and some map cufflinks, one of a map of where we met and one of a ma of where he proposed.

artylady14 · 17/09/2014 10:45

I really like the idea of the cufflinks of where you met and he proposed ....Im going to look these up. Thanks everyone. xx

I did a little box of things for my DH, 'groom' socks, cufflinks in a presentation box engrave with 'See at you 2pm XX/XX/07), a watch and a letter inside a handmade card which matched our wedding stationery (which I had made also). He was given it on the eve of our wedding by the best man, to be opened on the morning of the day. He opened it about 5am I think, as he was staying at the best man's flat and the neighbours were being noisy!

weeredcar · 17/09/2014 10:56

Depending where you are in the Caribbean, you can get great prices on watches - my OH bought a Tag there for half the price it was here.

Aussiebean · 17/09/2014 11:26

I gave mine cuff links made by the same jeweller who made his wedding ring. They matched.

His brother have them to him as he got ready.
