I have been clean from drugs for three months. Having become addicted to some and dependant on others I cracked and bought some. I only bought cannabis but I smoked some of it. Gonna ask dh to throw the rest away.

I'm sure someone in a better position to comment will be along soon.

It sounds trite, but today is a new day. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, start over again. Glad your DH is around and sounds like he might be supportive?

xx

I lapse is just that - a lapse. Don't condem yourself. Stick with the plan to throw it away, and congratulate yourself for being strong. Thanks

Hi OP It took me several attempts to quit smoking cigarettes. There were a couple of slip-ups at the beginning. Not smoked for about 7 years now. I just got more and more used to the idea that the new normal is without them. Now it just doesn't occur to me. Just keep on as you were, avoiding the drugs. It sounds like you have already done the hardest bit.

Thanks all dh wouldn't bin it said I have to so I have now binned it. Hopefully I'll have no more slip ups.

Good for you. You're getting stronger now. He did the right thing, too. He sounds like a really decent man.

Not the same thing but when I fell off the wagon when I was giving up smoking the counsellor said one cigarette was not a failure, it would only be failure if I then said "Ah fuck it" and went back on to 20 a day. This is the same, you didnt fall off the wagon just slipped a bit.

Tomorrow is a new day. Well done being clean for 3 months :)
