Ok, I've name changed for this, regular poster but this has come out of the blue and not really sure what to think,
I bought a wallet for DS, ordered it online as I had his initials put on it.
When it arrived I thought it looked abit small, so DH had left his wallet next to his bed so took it to measure the wallets to see if the size was standard iykwim,
So, a little batch of papers fell from DH wallet, along with £20 note and couple of coins, as I put them back I noticed a receipt for lloyds pharmacy, dated from Feb this year for a private prescription for £62,
It was from a local(ish) chemist but there are 2 more lloyds chemists much closer to home,
Now I'm wondering what on earth has he paid £62 for (cash) is he ill? Is it something dodgy?
He's a secretive person by nature, when we first met he kept it a secret that he had asthmaHmm
We've been married 20+ years and he's still the same! very private. One of my thoughts was Viagra? If I ask him he will just be narked that I was going through his wallet
Any ideas lovely MNetters?? It just see a an awful lot of money, and he's tight!

Viagra. Check credit and debit card bills, and any other likely sources of evidence of secretive activity. Email. Phone. Do the full spy thing.

Does he travel abroad? Could it be malaria, typhoid, yellow fever etc medication?

I thought the same too, although does he have erection difficulties? Because I think that if he does he would not need a private prescription. How much is a private prescription where you are anyway? Where I am for Viagra (or the generic) it's £11.
But it could be for something totally diferent and totally innocent!!!

I would ask him. You stumbled upon it innocently and now you're worried he's ill. Ask him about it.

Iv not noticed erection problems! Iv had private scripts for tablets before and its generally cheaper than NHS, usually £5 ish
it was paid with cash which is unusual for him.
His asthma is very mild so I doubt its anything for that.

Aaahh must be Viagra yes, what else could it possibly be but a thousand other things. Chris why do so many people on her jump to these conclusions.

The OP said he is a pretty private person. Maybe he is trying to hide something but maybe its more that he is embarrassed about it than he is actually up to no good.

If he's seeing a doctor privately, then it could be a multitude of things. Anti Depressants that he doesn't want to talk about and doesn't want on his NHS medical records? But, Viagra does spring to mind.

What is a private prescription? Do you have to go to the gp for it?

Iv had them before for antibiotics. The GP has written me a private prescription for them as she says it's cheaper that way, they normally charge about £5, so £62 is a hell of a lot of money for whatever it might be.

Just ask him. It could be anything. Prescription, toiletries... Anything.

You can buy a 6 month prescription for around that price. Maybe he has paid for one rather than keep paying per inhaler ect.

We can all speculate but only your dh can answer. You will have to ask him. It fell out so you wasn't snooping as such.

You'll have to ask him. You can say truthfully that you were using his wallet for research and you saw the prescription as it fell out.

Just ask him worst case scenario one of those home testing std kits or something as simple as aftershave. Are there issues in your marriage that would make you question a pharmacists receipt?

Perfume or aftershave might come up pretty expensive, or a shaving kit plus other stuff.

I wouldn't question this if my husband did this, pharmacists are expensive but that's because I buy make-up there too, so £50 in a pharmacy would be fine for me.

I would ask him straight out, just say the receipt fell out and you couldn't help looking at it (even though he will know the truth!)
