I've only spent a few days apart from mine in the couple of years we've been together, it's fine but I miss him like mad!
Tomorrow I go on holiday with my sons for 9 whole days. I'm looking forward to it obviously but will feel a littlelost with t my bf.
I'm sure this is totally healthy? We've been apart several times for days at a time, 9 days is the longest!

Not really, but then I'm used to it was he works odd shifts so I spend quite a bit of time without him.

Ragwort · 11/08/2014 16:03

No Grin - I've been married over 25 years and DH has always worked away, we take separate holidays as well sometimes Grin. I am very, very independent though and very happy with just my own company .

thisisnow · 11/08/2014 16:04

Not really... he never goes anywhere for me to miss him!

mosaicone · 11/08/2014 16:05

Yeah wet both have regular hour jobs, go to the gym together and mostly socialise together. We do spend time apart, go out separately, I've just got back from days in London with friends. Just something we don't do a lot, also, won't be any other adults my age (35) as staying in parents retirement resort so I've just got the boys to entertain me.... We'll have fun I'm sure!

I did last week - it was weird! I went away for a few days with DS and was fine, home for a week then away again for 3 nights and I really missed him! He said he was bored without us Hmm

mosaicone · 11/08/2014 16:15

Well yes, I also feel really sorry for him, he has to stay for work as he's self employed so it's too long to miss. We tried to get cheap flights for him for the weekend but missed out :( well we'll just have to get through it. That sounds so pathetic, I'm not, I'm fine, would just rather he was coming! He has lots of projects to do at home, that'll keep him busy, the sun, pool and sangria should do me!

No if I'm honest! He is away for 1-2 weeks a month and I've got used to it. The boys are easier when he's not here.

Floop · 11/08/2014 17:59

Terribly so! In 2012, due to our work, we only spend 8 days together.

It was painful.

Johnogroats · 11/08/2014 18:12

It's my 13 th wedding anniversary today...and I am along again! DH used to be in the Navy and nw works away mon- Fri. It's not ideal, but we manage and make the most of our time together. At least I can talk to him now....unlike when he was under the water for months.

I miss him, but I also quite like time on my own.

paisleyedition · 11/08/2014 18:12

No, not at all. He travels abroad for 1-2 weeks at a time for work/visit family. I always find it refreshing to have the place to myself. Used to live entirely on my own before we moved in together and I miss those days sometimes.

mosaicone · 11/08/2014 18:15

ahhhh Im just not used to it that's all

DP goes away for 1-2 weeks about 6 times a year. I miss having someone to chat to after work, and someone to help look after DD but I also enjoy having the space to myself and starfishing in the bed!! If he was away longer I might miss him, but largely I think absence makes the heart grown fonder...

harverina · 11/08/2014 18:36

Yes when dh is away with work I miss him terribly. We have been together for 17 years and married for 6. I hate it when he is away!

LadyLuck10 · 11/08/2014 18:39

Yes I do and we both prefer to not be separated if we can help it. Been together ten years and I still feel as if we are still dating Grin. DH is my best friend too and I prefer him over anyone else and I think that's why I miss him so much.

Deftones · 11/08/2014 19:26

I miss DP terribly when he has to go away. He only goes away for work 3-4 times a year and it's never anymore than 2 nights but I get quite piney for him and him I. I went to a festival last year with friends and we missed each other so much. I figure, in time, we'll be better at being apart but we're both misanthropic that we only like each other Grin

Nomama · 11/08/2014 20:01

Can't afford to, he works away a lot. At the moment he comes home at weekends, but even then he could get work and not be back for a couple of weeks at a time.

We have been married for 25 years, together for 30 and we think that we have actually spent about 10 years together Smile
