DTs are in France for a week with STBXH . It's the longest that I won't have seen them for.

Texted him this morning to ask if they could ring me tonight as not heard from them since they went. He's just texted to say there having too much fun with their new friends and they'll call tomorrow.

Of course I'm so happy that they're having a good time, I just miss them and would have liked a chat. I know I'm being selfish.

I've kept myself busy all week but it's just me and the cat tonight watching Modern Family so just feeling a bit down.

That must be really difficult for you.

This is the type of thing I dread if or when I break up with my DD's dad, but at least they are in good hands and they'll be so excited to tell you all about it when they get back!

How old are your DTs, OP?

My DS is away this week with his DF and this is the first time in 5 years that I dont feel shockingly miserable. I miss him of course but I don't feel desperate, iyswim.

It does get a little easier with time, and as they get a bit older.

Have a and start planning some lovely things to do when they get back.

I'm in same position. My two are away this week too with their dad. I thought I'd enjoy the freedom but I'm missing them. I'm typing this as I'm babysitting for a friend lol!

Hand squeezes all round. My grown-up daughter is away overnight with her husband and their daughter - and I miss them all.

I know its hard but I think it easier all round if you don't insist on a phone call. They are with their dad. They're fine. I'm sure they can call if they want to. Its a bit weird for them to be speaking to mummy who is not on holiday and is missing them.

You'll have your fun next week.

Things are not amicable between us so I won't be receiving any photos. It's hard because I know he'll be posting photos on Facebook for other people (inc. our mutual friends) to see.

Haven't insisted on a phone call. Hopefully they'll ring for a quick chat tonight - would just be nice to hear their voices.

Try and enjoy or be productive with your time without them. Have you got friends you can visit or go out with in the evening? My DS is off with his dad for 2 weeks today and im glad they have that strong relationship. Hope your DS's call you in the morning though.

Yes Charley have been out with friends, last night was first night on my own. Am off to work in a hour and planning to paint the kitchen tonight, bought all the stuff yesterday. Hopefully I'll hear from them later.

My best advice it don't torment yourself. Take a deep breath, think to yourself 'I'm missing my children, this is what that emotion feels like'.

Then go for a lovely walk, eat something the children don't like, or have a bath with the door open.

I know its painful but it does get easier and you have a lovely holiday to look forward to.
