It is always someone else's fault, I have learnt the hard way it is a classic feature of alcohol dependency.
You sound like you need a laugh so I will tell you my Ex's best not his fault, it was not his fault that he was caught drink driving, it was the dog's as it sat on his GF's lap in the front of the car!

Another one that used to be with a deluded alcohol abuser here... Turned his car over on an empty road when pissed and, rather than go home and report it in the morning, decided to call the police....who promptly breathalysed him!! As if that wasn't deluded enough he then decided to fight the charge in court, lost the case (of course) and added a big lawyer's bill to the fine.

I had one of those. He would get pissed then shout and shout and shout at me (for some imaginary wrong-doing) and never apologise. The words sorry were not in his vocabulary...

I've very recently left my marriage because of this kind of behaviour. it's still hard to talk about it. The pissed up drunk shouting and ranting only happened a couple of times a year. Afterwards, no apology and no acceptance it was wrong. Very much the 'you made me do it' approach. For years I thought it was my fault and I just put up with it. Finding MN and reading this board made me see it wasn't my fault and I didn't have to put up with it.

Another one who escaped a drunken cockwomble here. Stayed from age 20 to 36. Left 5 months ago and already feeling like a different person. My head is up, my shoulders are back, there's a spring in my step and I've lost 2 stone. Those close to me can't believe the transformation. Yes, there are hard days but they are completely worth not having that sinking feeling when he walks in pissed yet again. Now when he turns up to see the DCs and is drunk, I just tell him to come back when he is sober and get to close the door and shut out the misery.
