Getting partner to leave

Hi,
I have been with my partner for 4 years, lived together for one year. We decided she would move in to my house at the time.
Things haven't been great in the last six months. This is mainly due to the fact that she doesn't contribute to the house hold. I'm obviously happy paying my mortgage, but she doesn't contribute to bills, council tax, insurance, food, etc. I must admit she pays her share for holidays and occasionally on meals out.
I have talked to her about changing the way we work things but she never follows through.
I'm basically, fed up of having a 'vaginalodger' and have told her that I want to split up.

How long is acceptable notice for her to leave?

Ps no children and we both work full time.

What's acceptable is what you regard as reasonable. If she's been using you as free board and lodgings, she's not going to be in too much of a hurry to get a place of her own. You might give her to the end of the month assuming you can tolerate living under the same roof, but would suggest you treat her very much as an unwanted guest now... no domestic stuff, no meals and ffs don't sleep together. :)

I think it depends on what family and friends she has around her.
Is there anyone she can go to?
Her mum and dad?
If so then give her a week to get gone.

If she doesn't have anyone then 2-4 weeks would be OK.

She is royally taking the piss.
You are doing the right thing. Get her out ASAP as it will be very 'awkward' from here on in.

Are you wanting to split up or just have her move out?

In future division of bills etc is a discussion to have before someone moves in!

As the PPs said between 1 and 4 weeks but no domestic stuff. Couch and she gets her own food.
