When looking for therapy are both okay ? adhere to standards etc.

Yes both ok - both have a code of conduct for their therapists / counsellors and give you a bit of extra protection.

BACP / UKCP isn't a guarantee though - the most important thing is for you to find a therapist you're happy with. A lot of therapists / counsellors will quite happily offer an initial consultation for free and you can use this to 'try them out' and see whether you think you'll get on. You don't have to take the first therapist you try.
