CMs. Do you like the other CMs who work near you.

The worst part of being a CM for me is having to regularly see the other local CMs. There is the sort of 'top' CM who feels like she can tell everyone else how much to charge, how to run their business, etc. Another CM always brags about how many kids she has etc. I know i sound awful but just felt like a vent as one has recently tried to poach one of my babies.

There's only one more child-minder in the village where I live and she can be a bit braggy about how she's got another kid on her books. She's all 'we've done this, and we've done that' if a parent is in ear shot, but to other child-minders she says the kids are an inconvenience.

Thankfully she wont take little ones that aren't at nursery or school full time and I've only got under two year olds so I don't have to do a school run and listen to it.

The next village over have A LOT of child-minders and they are a funny lot, very cagey and un-friendly.

Yes, where I used to live there were a few cm's that I got on well with but there was also a big group of older childminders who had been doing it 30 years and so know everything and old school is best etc. Yet actually they had definitely slipped if they ever were good! 3 of them used to take their mindees to their weight watchers meetings with then instead of the cm playgroup every Wednesday morning, for £5/hour I wouldn't have been happy with that as a parent
