Been Single a while now and getting fidgety.

Would be good to meet someone nice soon so, gimme hope, where did you meet your DP and what were your first words to each other?

I'll start, met my last ex at our local pub and our first words were: 'Hi'

I met my DH in the queue for a transcontinental flight.

First words "Hi, I'm MuttonCadet, shall we sit together".

(Not as forward as it sounds, we were colleagues travelling with our boss, so it made sense for us to sit together away from him).

Pub. Hi.

Work drinks, and I think we bitched about the hot-desk type office we had both been given access to that no one used because it was cold and the wifi was crap.
If anyone's writing a mills and boon / rom-com do feel free to steal this story.

At work, waitress and bartender so probably me asking for a drinks order. I would constantly get him to walk away, so that I could see his bottom. It is still a thing of beauty.

Download Festival. Somewhere in the middle of the campsite. We were introduced by a mutual friend so I think our first words were probably something along the lines of "hi nice to meet you"

My DH said - Lose some weight off your arse Porto and I will take you out I told him to fuck off. He matured somewhat. We got together a long time later. It still makes me chuckle a bit. My arse only ever got larger.....

At work. His company came to move our workspace. Can't remember the first words, probably something earth-shattering like Hi.

On a train on the way to Warwick. I said "is it ok to sit here?".

Who knew this would be the start of a move half way around the world and two of the most gorgeous and amazing kids you could ever meet?!!

In a car park on the sea front, my friend shoved me into his car as I was a bit of a third wheel to her and her bf. He looked shocked, then interested, then suspicious. "How old are you?" were his first words I was 16, he was 18 and the first thing I noticed were his hands. 14 years and 5 DC later I still adore his hands!

In a bar. I said 'you look like Elijah Wood'. (He does, but taller and way more handsome :o )

At work. Him and his manager interviewed me for my job. Looking back he didn't say much during the interview. I thought he was a bit gormless . Although he loves telling people how we met

Starbucks.

He approached me and said "those shoes are FABULOUS!"

I thanked him and asked him if he wanted to share my table. Turns out, he wasn't gay like I'd first assumed :o

At a friends how party. I shan't repeat what first said to him because it was extremely offensive and fuelled by alcohol and work related rage! Really, it's a miracle he's still with me, any normal person would have glared at me and walked away

At work, on a Uni holidays I was working as a receptionist.
I had to tannoy him so it went something like this

He walked past me as I was using the pa system and raised one eyebrow and I sniggered down the line so about 200 people heard me and I had to turn it into a cough!

My lovely older brother got dumped so we went out for a drink (I'm 6 yrs younger and was a useful source of attractive ladies- he snogged a lot of my friends).

We met a mate of mine that had recently come back from a year in Oz. she wS with a very new boyfriend. We all sat chatting.

In the toilets she confessed she fancied my
Bro and I said I liked her man so we agreed to swap!

She went out with my bro and I chased and hung around the other bloke for a year. Eventually he crumbled. Together 17 yes but should have realised that his half hearted approach to relationships wouldn't improve. He's married to a work colleague now. Phew. 2 GORGEOUS DDs though.

Met my current DH at work as in he works in the office downstairs and he was my 'mail boy' I.e my company was too cheap to pay for a postman to come in to collect our franked mail so we brought our mail down to him...

I also often went to borrow things off him as we were new to the building and trying to set up the office from an empty shell. He had this rather cool wallet thing that had a billion tools in them which I often borrowed. One day I called him with the intention of borrowing a screwdriver and asked him on the phone rather innocently, "Can I borrow your massive toolbox?"

I couldn't stopped the giggles then and he said he had to ask me out then as he always liked me but had no indication I liked him before then... I maintain till today I had zero interest in him, it was just a massive slip of tongue!

At a 21st birthday party.
He sat down next to me and said "Hello, you must be KatieScarlett"

I was one half of a mystery blind date. BF had raved about me to her boss, engineered my attendance at event, told him I was coming and told me nothing.

The cottage opposite mine.

"Hi, I live across the road and I think you've taken in a parcel?"

Met my current OP when I responded to his ad in the free paper (way before internet dating) so our first words were probably "are you MisguidedAngel - yes". Then there were an awful lot of words from him, selling himself, and me thinking, in the words of a much later song, "that don't impress me much"). But I did quite fancy him and when he showed me his picturesque shack on the beach, and his boat .... 20 years later and here we are, on another boat.

In a chat room a looooong time ago, first words were from him asking what lol meant!! :) :)

At college. My friend (male) was trying to get Pringles out of a tube and dropping them everywhere. I sighed and jokingly declared that I would marry the first man I met who could fit his whole hand in a Pringles tube. A 17yo boy I didn't know leapt up, grabbed the tube, shoved his whole hand in it and grinned triumphantly. Then blushed. And sat down again mumbling that he was a fool while still blushing furiously. Fifteen years later, we are married with two DC and he still can't believe he was that bold. He is v shy.
