Was anyone over whelmed by their partners family at first?

Hi just wanting to know if I'm normal really and other peoples experiences, I've been with my lovely bf a year now and he has a lovely family all very friendly and sociable , they like meeting up together a lot and include his brothers wife's sisters and partners , I've nothing against any of them but I've just become a bit over whelmed doing loads of things with them especially as I don't see much of my own family. Suppose I don't feel 100% comfortable with them all and sometimes find it hard making conversation trying to give a good impression! I need a break lol. Does it get easier and will I feel more comfortable, I'm wondering how others felt at first ?

Thinking about it it could well be partly to do with I don't see my family much my mum died 10 years ago, my dad lives 200 miles away and never calls me, my sister lives 100 miles away and doesn't bother much and when you see how close other families are it kind of gets to you, I suppose I just have to get over it and be glad he and his family have included me in their celebrations etc

Sorry to hear of your loss.

I still feel over whelmed by my dh family. This Christmas nearly tipped me over the edge!

Seriously I have to be fully dressed as his family just walk in our house any time of day. Gives me the rage!!!

Really ? Thank god it's not just me, is it because there's so many of them do they get together a lot ?

Oh blimey I don't have that as I don't live with him, I tell you what else although his mum is lovely and I get on with her he tells her everything, I go to tell her about something that's happened and she already knows
