Do a lot of men think this way?

I was looking for travel tips to Brazil and came across this blog. It's by a man that has been traveling around South America and Europe and basically describes his sexual experiences with the women there. The most recent posts aren't too bad, but some of the earlier stuff is pretty explicit and very misogynistic. I fear that a lot of men share his views but may just be too afraid to say it. I don't know..

I haven't read the blog (your link doesn't work, btw), but are some men misogynistic twats? Absolutely. All of them? No.

Anniegetyourgun · 03/12/2013 23:18

Not giving that my clicks.

Sorry, it might work now. I feel silly even posting it, but somehow reading this upset me

Good move, Annie. I think I've seen it before actually. And if it's the one I remember, it reads like some dickhead MRA's wank fantasy. Not recommended.

MistAllChuckingFrighty · 03/12/2013 23:22

If this blog is horrible misogyny, isn't it best that you don't link to it here, thus increasing the number of hits ?

I haven't read the blog, and won't be clicking it.

I am sorry you were upset, though Sad

BOF · 03/12/2013 23:23

Bbb123, don't let it get to you. The web is full of crackpots.

bbb123 · 03/12/2013 23:23

BOF that's exactly what it is! I haven't posted in relationships before but I read from time to time. The other day I was reading the two threads about what goes on in strip clubs and lap dances. Just makes me think that all men have this side to them

OP posts:
MistAllChuckingFrighty · 03/12/2013 23:26

Not all of them, love.

UmpireOnCall · 03/12/2013 23:27

Don't depress yourself reading that shit. I'm not clicking either.

BOF · 03/12/2013 23:28

Oh God, no! There are plenty out there who are perfectly decent human beings. They are under-represented on the web, because the women in their life don't need to ask advice for their troubles, and the blokes themselves are too busy in real life treating their partners and families with respect and integrity, and don't tend to spend self-indulgent hours on arrogant travel blogs.

Don't allow it to make you cynical.

rachel2kids · 03/12/2013 23:29

Hi, the definition of misogynistic is a man who hates women (define hate) and thinks they are better (define better) than women. I have not read the link but think its all subjective.

MistAllChuckingFrighty · 03/12/2013 23:32

Hi, rachel, define "unhelpful" and you might be somewhere close.

bbb123 · 03/12/2013 23:33

Ok maybe not misogynistic, but very sexist. I mean if I was one of the women and I knew that a man I slept with wrote about me in a blog in this manner, I'd be mortified.

I know there have to be good men out there, I've met some...but some others can be real cunts haha

I think everyone is sexist to a point, some guy writing online isnt that bad. If men you know are sexist or crude, you have to obviously tell them how you feel. But I agree bbb with the crude word you used to describe some men lol

artsylady · 04/12/2013 00:14

This guy sounds like a total ass! I think that most straight men do think of women in a sexual way and may even objectify them when given a chance (like in a strip club or something). Although most guys probably don't see all women that way and can form healthy relationships, unlike this dude!

HanneHolm · 04/12/2013 05:42

Ha. He gets binned every time

EirikurNoromaour · 04/12/2013 05:56

Very sexist = misogynist. Why scared of using the word?

piklepants · 04/12/2013 06:18

I know where your coming from having read this board a lot u start to think what horrible creatures men are also watched some porn on Line but half the stuff that comes up or most of it is just so degrading I couldn't look at my partner the same way I just keep thinking that deep down if they could get away with it most men would like to treat women like that. Maybe I'm wrong.

Read a bit of it. He's the sort of bloke that Nuts, Loaded etc are aimed at. He is running around poorer countries seducing women with his money. Struggles with his equals in the US.

Some men are like this, but I doubt they are even a large minority.

livingzuid · 04/12/2013 07:20

Oh god. What a bunch of hooey that guy writes. Girls lucky enough to catch his eye? Please. I read a bit to DH whose response was what a dick.

Some of this blog comes across as the author is in fantasy land. I think a lot is embellished and would take it with a very large pinch of salt.

Lazyjaney · 04/12/2013 07:33

Very embellished an a lot of salt - I'm sure he's aiming for a book contract, to sell to the sort of men who read The Game et al

7to25 · 04/12/2013 07:43

I'm not convinced he's ever left his studio flat in Skegness.

Thisisaghostlyeuphemism · 04/12/2013 07:49

If he is going for a book then I imagine being able to show he's got loads of views will help...

I'm sorry you feel sad reading it but Are you really surprised that there is misogyny? You could follow 'everyday sexism' on twitter to understand more about this without giving these arseholes the attention they crave.
