This only focusses on how internet porn affects men's dopamine levels and other physical and mental factors. Obviously there are wider issues, but there's some interesting views here - and I think those of us who have sons should be aware of them. What do people think?

I think it's all part and parcel of why it's important to have frank conversations with our DCs (not just sons... don't buy that) about self-respect, respecting others, and healthy relationship and sexual matters in general.

DH and I have the same opinions regarding pornography, that it has no place in our marriage or our home. Sexual relationships need to be nurtured within trusting loving relationships.

I have no time for hairy handed porn losers - before I get flamed books don?t get me off either and the "men are visual creatures" line which gets thrown about here doesn?t take into consideration that some men love the warmth and feel of a real life woman.

Very interesting. I have a 13 yo ds who has been outwitting me with his Internet use and accessing porn via the Internet for the last 6 months or so. The only way I've been able to stop him is by banning his Internet use at home entirely, which I know is not a long term solution.

Try Netnanny or simlar Dog, a friend of mine had a simliar issue and used Netnanny (approx £30?) this really worked for her.

Didn't mean to run away for so long. I don't think just sons deserve our time over the issue of internet porn, but this clip obviously addresses how it affects boys and men, which was why I emphasised that. Obviously men's expectations of women, exploitation, etc - are all important issues and things I've discussed with DD.

BastardDog, show the clip to your DS! I think knowing that it takes longer for a man in his 20's than a man in his 50's to overcome erectile dysfunction from porn addiction might curb his enthusiasm a tad

I work with young males and am aware that you can see a difference in his personality when a lad is spending too much time on porn/gaming. it's really hard (if you'll pardon the pun ) to get through to them that they need to get out more...as with any addict.

Sorry OP, but I don't think an informational video is going to convince a 13 year old boy to stop masturbating to porn. All kids watch videos about smoking, drugs, etc at school and yet they remain popular, even without the effects of a hormonal frenzy.

No, nor do I Gabby. Don't think I said it would. But just like drug education, it's good to present the information so they can make an informed choice, surely.

I feel sorry for my DDs. The future 'men' of their generation are all growing up to be 'hairy handed porn losers' as Booster so eloquently puts it.

I've never thought teenage boys were especially attractive creatures - gawkiness, spots, greasy hair, an unappealing cocktail of testosterone, machismo and insecurity.

Now it's even worse: these potential partners are not just all of the above, but exposed to a diet of hardcore porn which distorts their view of women and screws up their own sexuality.

It's not Victorian to say that there should be legislation to make this filth less than ubiquitous. It's messing up boys, girls and their futures.

Women with boys have a responsibility to educate their sons about porn.
