Someone (ex bf) I suspect has changed my password on FB. My iPad told me 2 weeks ago it had been changed on this iPad and gave me the date and time. So I clicked on forgotten password thinking it would send me a reminder or let me reset it again. It then told me there was no account under my email address???? Wtf

I have tried to set up a new account and I'm just going round in circles. It's impossible. Anyone know what to do cos I am not FB savvy

You wouldn't get his Facebook etc cos its not logged in on your iPad, if he was buying stuff on your account you would but he could just be switching to his own account for that. My son is in our iCloud account for photos etc but he has his own apple id so he can only buy free apps and they both work at the same time.

How can my friends help me recover my account?

Because your privacy and security are very important, we can only reset your login info after we carefully check your identity. You may have the option to get back into your account with a few minutes of help from your friends.

Here's how it works:

If you're locked out of your account, go to the password reset page and follow the directions to find your account.
When prompted, choose a few friends you can easily reach by phone. After you confirm your choices, we'll send each of your friends a unique security code and instructions on how to help you.
Call your friends and ask them to check their email for a message from Facebook. Don't send a text message or email.
Log back into Facebook and enter the codes
Wait 24 hours and log back into your account. This waiting period is an extra precaution to protect you.

Note: It's important that you call your friends to collect your security codes. We want to make sure that nobody gets into your Facebook account by pretending to be you (ex: by emailing your friends asking for the security codes).

This happened to me a few months ago. I couldn't log into fb using my normal email address. I tried to log in using the fb email (which they have provided everyone with) and my normal password and it logged me in. I had reported it to fb but I think it was probably just a glitch.

I've since been able to log in using my normal email address but I have changed my password just in case!

i wouldnt bother emailing fb i believe you rarely get a response from them. you have a good answer above so do as that messages says - and ASAP change ALL you email and any other account password. if you have no clue how to do that then seek out a fiend in RL to help you or do it for you. leave nothing to chance concerning your private accounts online.
