Gutted - iphone 4gs is locked and it holds all my evidence

Hi

Pretty much as it says really.

My phone is locked - I dont know how but it is and I cannot get into it and I am absolutely gutted because it holds all my screen shots of evidence of his affair and all financial details which I was going to email to my solicitor this morning.

I know some of you will say thats my Karma for snooping - please be kind to me as I am the injured party in this marriage

Has he tried to access your phone and input the wrong passcode too many times? I'd phone your provider and see if there's anything they can advise on how to unlock it. Failing that connect it to your pc/laptop and back everything up. You should then be able to see it on the pc so the phone is irrelevant.
Hope you get it sorted out.

Did you try rebooting it

RobinDude · 29/11/2012 07:14

If you put the wrong pass code in it only locks for a minute and then it's accessible again.

I don't know what to suggest if it has been locked completely :(

I'm sorry that you're going through this OP. I'm not condoning snooping but it shouldn't make problems if people have nothing to hide in the first place.

Locked how?

RobinDude · 29/11/2012 07:16

Just had a quick google and it says that you can restore it on iTunes on the computer.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 29/11/2012 07:16

iPhone 4 backs up automatically to iCloud as soon as you plug it in to charge and aren't using it IYSWIM.
Do you have a pass code on the phone? If so it sounds as though someone has put the wrong number in 3 times.

You can contact your service provider who should be able to help, failing that, Apple support. 0800 0480408.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 29/11/2012 07:17

Oh and if you log into iCloud on a pc you should IIRC be able to see the last time you backed it up.

Stopthepidgeon · 29/11/2012 07:23

thanks everyone - ive googled it and am confident I can unlock the phone but I fear I will lose all my unsaved evidence data.

Don't do anything.

Tell the solicitor, they might be able to suggest someone to unlock it.

Don't risk losing the info. You don't need evidence of an affair to get a divorce, but the financials will help to stop him screwing you over.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 29/11/2012 07:37

Plug your phone into the pc. Open up iTunes. Back up the phone, then try unlocking. Tbh id call Apple, they will talk you through the restore process and they will make sure everything is backed up correctly.

I wouldn't try and do it on your own unless you are sure that everything is saved to the iCloud.

ProcrastinatingPanda · 29/11/2012 07:42

Take it to an apple shop and explain everything, they'll be able to help. Does your dh pay the phone bill or have access to it? As he'll be able to phone up and have the phone locked, he could be suspicious and has done this to prevent you sharing evidence.

ErikNorseman · 29/11/2012 08:12

Does anyone know your iTunes password? You can remote lock or remote wipe an iPhone if you have the password. Take it to an apple shop ASAP for advice.
