Is anybody else using it?

What are your experiences? Has anybody suffered from migraenes and headaches after having it fitted? How long did the sideeffects last?

hi i have had the implant for 4 months now and i have had constant head aches for about 3 months its driving me crazy. Im moody alot when my head hurts and have a short fuse. When i first had the implant i thought it was great hardly bled no weight gain and hardly any bad moods but now i just feel terrible in all of the above! I have had no luck with contreceptive because of the hormone. I had the copper coil (NO HORMONE) fitted for a year and i really did feel alot better i just had my usual depressive moment when i was due on, but towards the end of the year i fel pregnant with it fitted. It was a very hard time for me when that happened and now having tried pratically every thing i have no faith in any of it anymore.

I've had the implant for about 9 months now. Had five months of longer and lighter periods (10-12 days) and I feel I have been slightly more moody whilst on it. I havent had any extra headaches/migraines/weight gain etc etc. I had a couple of months period free and have started having a ten day light period every 2 months which doesnt really bother me. I quite like it, its pretty much ideal for me....well as ideal as any hormonal contraception. I dont know whether it makes a difference but I am about 14 stone.

Hiya
Ive had the implant for 7months, and have suffered with no effects at all, well, apart from having no bleed at all

i been on da implant for 9months and im loving it.its stopped my period and i havnt gained any weight.i lov it but would like to know if anyone has ever gottn pregnant with it. i hav a scare of being pregnant at the moment is it possible to get pregnant without having a period?

benbon · 07/04/2008 10:16

hi ive had it in for 2 years now and love it. its the easiest one i think.. my daughter was conceived whilst on the pill and the injection made me pile on weight.

but the implant has had no side effects. no weight gain no moodieness. for the first few months your periods will be erratic but they will sort them selves out...

this is perfect if you want to know your protected without having to worry about remembering to take something...

Have justhad mine removed due to causing major pmt like symptoms and bleeding every other day, heavily. I had a horrid time with it as have 4 of my frinds. I also put on 3 stone. I had dd3 in June, Lost my baby weight practically straight after then gradually since having it in my weight crept up and up again.

MegSophandEmma · 07/04/2008 10:21

I have alsways been naturally skinny. The weight gain was great for a bit as I sprouted boobs again but the nurse said I was at the high end of my BMI the night I had it out. Where as I have always been at the low end.

Had mine put in just after my DS was born last Sept, and have been bleeding pretty much constantly ever since. Did have a bit of weight gain (but could be just me), a few headaches and a bit moody (again hard to know whether it's just me...) -seeing Dr on thursday to discuss, as having a few other issues which I think may be related to low iron - theory being - how much can you bleed before having iron deficiency ??

purpleglitterfairy · 09/02/2009 19:45

i had one put in 6 months ago and i itially had problems with it becuase it had been inserted wrongly and moved too much but after having a new one fitted i havent looked back i have had one period about a month in and none since. i love it and it has made my sexlife so much easier as im not worring about forgetting my pill which i managed to way to often

purpleglitterfairy · 09/02/2009 19:46

oh and i forgot tomention i am a larger lady and i was told it would be fine but to maybe think about having it replace at about 2.5 years to be on the safe side

My sister had implanon and developed 2 large brown pigmented blotches on her cheeks. The docs at the FPC told her they where nowt to do with the implanon, but I made her get it taken out. Guess what? The patches faded.

ds then asked to have the mirena coil, but was told they did not do it!!They had plenty of mirenas on the shelf.

The mirena acts on the endometrium, it makes it thinner (progesterone in the coil does this). The normal coil makes periods heavier.
