DH was like that when I had to go through an inspection.
Actually declared that he wasn't sure he wanted to be with me any more (two days before the bloody thing started - in the days when you'd get a years' notice!!!)
Much better once the thing was over and done with (even though it didn't go fantastically well!!!) Still muddling along 8 years later!
