I was watching the Trisha show this morning and she said that smoking pot can seriously affect relationships becasuse it can distort the way you understand things and you take things in a different way.
I don't smoke myself but does anyone have any experience of a partner who smokes pot regularly, all day as a cigarette smoker does?
What effect has it had and how do you get them to damn well stop it?

If I was to smoke I guarantee i'd be the most interesting and funny person you've ever come across!!!!!!!!

No I'm ok on escalators now - took me about 20 years though!!!!!!

Can you believe I been trying to post on this thread for an hour, kids, distractions and computer freezes just as I manage it......

I been there Linzoid, I used to smoke all day every day albeit before kids but I do know the highs and lows involved.
IMO any drug only serves to amplify the way you feel at the time, all have teir own different edge but will only accentuate the person you are. The biggest difference to a recreational puff and one who smokes all day is the the former experiences the cliched but true giddiness and munchies etc, a regular smoker will use it to regain that state of calm clear thinking that we all have anyway (most days).
The way I cut down was setting clear goals for the day even if it was a simple shopping list and set an appointed time in the evening when you have one then. This way all day you know you going to have "it" but not till later. Over time you then set targets of how much of an evening 1/2 to one joint etc.
The benefits to be gained are a clear headed, brighter outlook.
These days if I want to look at the world through rose-tinted glasses I look at my dd's.
Best of luck

CountessDracula · 24/11/2003 16:41

Thomcat that's obviously because you have smoked too much

jasper · 24/11/2003 16:41

It can make your teeth fall out.

ThomCat · 24/11/2003 16:45

Very true Angelmother. If I feel relaxed and comfy etc and it's offered I'll smoke a joint, but only at the end of the evening in social gatherings and I do always end up laughing my head off becasue I know when to smoke and when not to.

doormat · 24/11/2003 18:56

is it safe to come back in.......yep all clear

Thomcat like you I have a few drags off the odd spliff that is handed around at a social function.
It makes me chill out and I get the giggles.
I never have more than a few drags, that is my limit.

My ex was a bad pothead for years, he is last I heard of him somewhere down south sectioned in a mental hospital. He went paranoid etc but that could of been through other things as he was always a bit of a tit.

Forestfly · 24/11/2003 18:58

I'm saying nothing

misdee · 24/11/2003 22:19

can be a pothead at times. i go thro phrases of it, but havent touched any for a few month now, same for alcohol. i used to have smaoke after working late shifts to help me unwind before bed as otherwise i'd be lying in bed trying to sleep and brain still working overtime. actually reading this has made me want some but i'm too lazy to roll lol.

motherinferior · 25/11/2003 08:33

I think using anything constantly - I mean all day, every day - is, apart from anything else, incredibly tedious (if it's booze, of course, it tends to make people extremely nasty and violent). I used to smoke quite a bit but just don't get the opportunity now!

Anyone know if you can't while breastfeeding, btw?

jasper · 25/11/2003 21:53

motherinferior just watch you don't drop hot ash on the baby's head
