I have a very small immediate family and parents separated years ago. For the past few years mum and partner have come over on Xmas day and stayed the evening, DB and family come on Boxing Day and stay for a few days. We always have a lovely time, so thought (they come here because I have a house big enough for us all) Anyway out of the blue DM announces that she will not be coming over for Xmas this year, her reason well "they always have drive and cannot have a drink? she is tee total Confused. Too make matters worse she is now trying to guilt db into going to get house instead coming to us. ( it almost like she is jealous of our relationship)I jJust don't get it and feel rather hurt. DP has no family and DS1 will spend time with his GF family this year. Poor DS2 is wondering why they do not want to come. Question is am I wrong to feel sad about this, am I over reacting. Bloody TV and radio do not help banging on about spending time with family at Xmas, actually feel sorry for DS2.

3 reasons really 1. we have not been invited, 2. the kids like to be at home on Xmas, they would be bored stiff there, don't think it would be very fair to give them Xmas presents and not be able to use/play with them 3. I actually do not fancy a xmas without a drink. DM and her partner stay over here but that is not an option over there. Oh an finally DM does not like to cook and would spend the whole day stressed and moaning. Not much fun really
