I ganged up with my MIL against dh and it was fab!

This is so trivial, but given all the bashing MILs get on here (much of it deserved, by the sound of things) thought I'd post on their side for once.

Dh usually takes ds (2yo) round to his mothers on his own. Has been moaning for months that ds refuses to nap, ends up grouchy and misbehaving, dh gets stressed and ends up coming home early, fed up.

I went with them today, seeing as it is Christmas and all. Dh took ds upstairs after lunch. Could hear sounds of battle being joined, dh telling ds off, etc. etc. MIL says to me: 'I wish he'd let me try to settle ds, but he never will.' I thought hey, it can't hurt, can it? So called upstairs, persuaded dh to give it a go. MIL goes upstairs and peace breaks out... ds sleeps for two hours. Result!

Dh's nose every so slightly put out of joint, bless him (muttering: 'Well, I bet he was about to drop off anyway... and my mum has had 35 years of training at this, it's not a fair comparison').

I quite often get a lot of sympathy from my MIL over my dh's...foibles. She's pretty good as MILs go (helps that she lives 300 miles away, mind).

I soooo wish I could have had a good relaionship with my MIL - it would have made for a much easier life .... and I feel that the kids could have had so much more fun .... regrets - regrets ....
