He is due here for lunch at 1pm and much as I fancy him I feel like crap today. Utterly exhausted and beginnings of a cold. So am hoping he has no "expectations"

Hope I'm not too late! Just be honest with him without being whiney. From the start be lovely and smiley, but let him know that you aren't feeling great but seeing him cheers you up.
