My dad wolf whistled at a woman when we were walking down the street...

basically i'm really pissed off at my dad. we were walking down the road and he wolf whistled at a woman on the other side of the road.it was so embarrising! he thought it was funny and totally acceptable. she was probably about my age, early 30's he is 68. I'm just sick of his behaviour towards women. when i was a kid and he'd be taking me to school in his car he'd beep the horn and shout/ whistle at women. when i was a teen ager he would chat up my friends. and had girlfriends in their 20's.
i just find it too much.

He sounds terrible. Still, I wish I could do a really good wolf whistle. Can he give me any tips?

my dad used to do this....blast his air horn from his truck!! that was in the 80's,he was embarassing, dads eh!

he did teach me to do a very good whistle when i was about 5! When he did that on the street the other day it made me think about how his behaviour has affected me over the years. I.ve had lots of body confifence issues, always valued myself for how i look. Never happy with myself. I guess i think alot of my issues are to do with his disrespectfut attitude. And the way he only really values women by their looks. It just makes of feel really sad.

a really wonderful intelegent woman could be talking on tv or whatever and he'd shout down her argument and mutter some derogatory comment about her being fat or old- anything over about 40 is old to him. Just to put her down. But if she had been slim and pretty she would be fabulous and ger ideas wonderful.

I wouldn't walk down the street with him, nor go in his car

How excrutiatingly embarassing to have people realise he is your father

You should have left that feeling behind when you grew out of your teens, tbh

He sounds as thick as two short planks. His boorish offensive behaviour must have lost him many friends, and certainly his daughter's respect - how sad for him.

yes shouty, he has lost many friends, to the point where he has no friends in the town he lives in, only a few of his oldest friends have stuch it out with him and then can only cope with seeing him once or twice a yr.

he's recently retired and is thinking of moving nearer us, am dreading the prospect. he is ok in small doses, but i would find more regular contact hard.
my dh has had many a near punch up with him re his stone age attitude.

Maybe you could try harassing a hot young guy next time you're out with your dad - it might wake him up to how offensive his behaviour is and how pathetic he must seem to the women he's harassing.

also my lovely cousin ,his sisters daughter, has just passed away, and he has asked to speak at her funeral. he read me some of what he wanted to say, basically he slagged her off! she has been quite a difficult person at times in her life, but i still dont think it's appropriate to use her funeral as a platform for him to have a rant. i told him not to be so selfish and just say something nice and comforting for her little dc's.
am really thinkng he is a bit of a twat today. why cant he behave normally, and appropriatly, without inflicting his opinions onto everyone arround him. i mean, any normal person would just want to say something nice and comforting about the deceased at their funeral wouldnt they?

well funny you should say that corlan, i did something a bit like that the other week when i got fed up with him.
we were walking by our local fire station, and i did a bit of a double take at a particlularly swoonsome fireman, and he (my dad) got all uppety, saying stuff like why do women get all silly about firemen, they're probably all gay any way!"

he sounds a twat - i think i would say something like 'oh you made her day, i bet she loves picking up oaps' or, loudly 'come on now (insert name) you know we have to go back to the home if you misbehave'
